Scottish League Division 1 Inverness Ladies got their League campaign underway with a convincing victory last weekend. A blistering start saw the Highland side 3-0 up after only twelve mins. Julia Scott opened the scoring after four mins with a well struck shot and the same player doubled the lead on 10 mins after a mazy run which saw her beat several defenders and her powerful drive went in off the far post. Rebecca Dempster made it 3-0 two mins later when she beat the keeper with a well placed lob as Inverness continued to pour forward. To their credit the Edinburgh side refused to give up and pulled a goal back on the half hour mark before Leanne Calder made it 4-1 at half time. The second half was a more even affair with both teams creating chances before Calder netted her second to complete the scoring with twenty mins remaining. Team Kim Jappy, Sarah Main, Dawn Fraser, Claire Mackay (Molly Alexander 65mins), Julie Scott (Claire Masterton 70mins,) Lisa Mackenzie, Lisa Glennie, Lorraine Cadden, Leanne Calder, Rebecca Dempster (Natalie Bodiam 60mins). Unused: Denise Mackenzie, Nicola Ross. Fixture: 24-Aug-2008 |
