Inverness Ladies created history when they clinched promotion to the premier league for the first time in their history with a hard fought victory over Falkirk last weekend. A draw would have been enough for Inverness to secure second place behind champions Rangers but the Highland side were determined to end their season with a victory and almost snatched a 3rd minute lead when Lisa Mackenzie brought out a fine save from the Falkirk keeper. The strong wind was making flowing football pretty difficult and Falkirk snatched the lead on 14mins with their first attack of the game. Inverness pressed forward in search of an equaliser and came agonisingly close with 3mins remaining when Rebecca Dempster rattled the cross bar with a 25 yard free kick.

Inverness started the second half on the offensive and Finella Annand burst through the Falkirk defence and was desperately unlucky to see her shot strike the cross bar. With time running out and Inverness now camped in the Falkirk half the equaliser duly arrived with 9 mins remaining. Lorraine Cadden burst down the right wing and her well placed cross was swept home by the inrushing Lisa Mackenzie. Still the home side poured forward in search of a winner and it duly arrived with 3 mins remaining when prolific scorer Leanne Calder broke clear and sparked wild scenes of celebration with a composed finish.

The Women deserve their moment of glory for their effort and commitment throughout a long and testing season. The management would like to thank everyone that supported the club throughout the campaign.
