Scottish League Division 1 Inverness Ladies brought their season to a close and clinched third place in the League with an impressive display last weekend. The home side made the perfect start when Leanne Calder netted with a blistering 25 yard drive after only 3mins. Both sides created scoring chances but there were no further goals in the first half. Play raged from end to end in the second half and Inverness reached a personal milestone with 20mins remaining when Dawn Fraser netted with a strike from her own half. This spectacular goal proved to be Inverness’s 100th League goal this season. Player of the match Sarah Main completed the scoring in the final minute. After the game the evergreen Fiona Cuthbert announced her retirement from the game after many faithful and devoted years to the club. Everyone connected with Inverness Ladies would like to thank Snuffy for her efforts and contributions to the team and wish her all the best. Team Kim Jappy, Claire Masterton, Dawn Fraser, Claire Mackay, Sarah Main, Karen Mason, Fiona Cuthbert, Denise Mackenzie, Lorraine Cadden, Leanne Calder, Natalie Bodiam. Fixture: 08-Jun-2008 |
