Scottish League Division 1 Inverness continued their poor run of league results when they were defeated 4-1 by Arthurlie in Glasgow last week-end. The Highland side opened brightly and Molly Alexander and Leanne Calder both missed early chances before Calder fired them ahead on the 20min mark. Arthurlie fought their way back into the game and equalised after 35mins. Stephanie Cameron should have restored the lead before the Glasgow side went ahead on the stroke of half time. Nicola Ross appeared to have levelled the scoring but her close range header was disallowed for an alleged push. Any hope of Inverness saving the game disappeared when Lorraine (Rooney) Cadden was sent off for two bookable offences. Arthurlie took command and netted 2 late goals to run out comfortable winners. Claire Masterton was names as player of the match. This Sunday the women have the chance to avenge this defeat when they again face Arthurlie in the League cup Q-Final at the Culloden Academy with a 2pm kick off. TEAM Kim Jappy, Claire Masterton, Nicola Ross, Karen Mason, Dawn Fraser (Rhian Macgillivray 79mins), Sarah Main, Molly Alexander, Kerry Smith, Lorraine Cadden, Leanne Calder, Stephanie Cameron (Holly Smith 60mins) Fixture: 02-Oct-2005 |
