Scottish League Division 1 Inverness Ladies came agonisingly close to ending Hutchison’s Vale’s 100% start to the season before the Edinburgh side secured the points with a late winner. After a fairly even start the home side took the lead on 25mins when Sarah Main set up striker Stephanie Cameron who drilled the ball into the far corner of the net. Leanne Calder almost doubled the lead minutes later but her effort sailed over the over the crossbar. The Edinburgh side equalised on 42mins when the home side failed to clear a cross into the box which was swept over keeper Kim Jappy’s head and dipped into the corner of the net. The second half saw Inverness mainly on the attack but their dominance failed to produce a goal although Sarah Main came close on 70mins with a fine header which was well saved by the keeper. Hutchison Vale scored what proved to be the winner on 79 mins when their striker beat Jappy with a glancing header from a perfectly placed free kick. Nicola Ross was named as player of the match.
