Scottish League Division 1 Inverness Ladies came out of hibernation and severely dented Falkirk’s promotion hopes with a comfortable victory last weekend. Early exchanges were fairly even before Eilidh Mackay took advantage of a defensive error to put the home side 1-0 up after 21mins. Falkirk pressed for an equaliser but the central defensive partnership of Kim Jappy and Nicola Ross held firm. Angie Campbell produced a couple of fine saves as Inverness led 1-0 at the interval. The second half saw Inverness press forward and Lorraine Cadden almost doubled the lead but was thwarted by the Falkirk keeper before Karen Mason burst through the visitors defence before losing her composure in front of goal. Inverness secured the points with a goal of stunning quality. Molly Alexander won the ball in midfield and sent Leanne Calder through on goal, the diminutive striker side stepped a couple of challenges before unleashing an unstoppable rocket into the postage stamp corner of the net. Nicola Ross was named as player of the match. Team Angie Campbell, Fiona Greig, Kim Jappy, Nicola Ross, Dawn Fraser, (Rhian MacGillivray 80mins) Eilidh Mackay, (Sarah Main 72mins) Karen Mason, Fiona Cuthbert,(Molly Alexander 56mins) Stephanie Cameron, Lorraine Cadden, Leanne Calder.
