Scottish Women’s Premier League

Inverness City completed their league campaign with a defeat at Forfar but they can take a lot of consolation after a battling performance. There was little between the sides in the first half with neither keeper being tested before Forfar took the lead on 42 mins.

The second half was more open with Kim Jappy making a couple of fine saves and at the other end Natalie Bodiam and Hannah Gordon both came close to equalising before Forfar wrapped up the points in the 62nd minute with a second goal. Inverness can take a great deal from their efforts towards the end of the campaign in securing eighth place in the league. Several youngsters were introduced during the course of the season and will have gained valuable experience for the future. The Women now enter the close season although they will continue to play 5 a side football throughout the winter before resuming pre season training in January.

Team

Kim Jappy, Beth MacDonald (Becky Dingwall 78 mins), Megan McCarthy, Marnie McCarthur, Sarah Main, Hannah Markley (Megan Gillies 74 mins), Zoe Johnstone, Kirsty Deans (Emma Paterson 59mins), Lorraine Cadden, Natalie Bodiam, Hannah Gordon.

Scottish Women’s Premier League

Inverness City completed their home league fixtures with a thrilling draw with Rangers. City took the lead on 8 minutes with a well taken goal from young Hannah Gordon. But, the lead was cancelled out on 14 mins when Rangers equalised. Play raged from end to end before Inverness regained the lead when Natalie Bodiam burst through the Rangers' defence before beating the keeper with a clinical finish. Rangers pushed for an equaliser but failed to find a way past Kim Jappy in the home goal.

The second half saw Rangers pushing forward and they finally equalised on 59 mins when Jappy was beaten by a ferocious strike from an acute angle. Jappy and her hard work defence kept the Glasgow side at bay for the remainder of the game and the home side came close to snatching victory when Bodiam and Lisa McKenzie both came close in the closing stages.

Team

Scottish Women’s Premier League

City had to come from behind to beat bottom of the league Kilmarnock after a dreadful first half performance. Killie took the lead on 10 mins when Inverness failed to clear their lines at a corner and shortly after the lead was doubled after some awful defending. City failed to create a decent chance in the remainder of the first half.

Inverness looked a different team in the second half and pulled a goal back on 50 mins when Hannah Gordon rifled a shot in from the edge of the box and within 4mins the scores were level when Lisa Mckenzie scored with a fine shot. Inverness were now dominant and they took the lead when Hannah Markley beat two defenders and her perfectly flighted cross was volleyed home by Natalie Bodiam. Shortly after it was 4-2 when Gordon netted her second with a ferocious shot that flew in off the far post. Killie pulled a goal back before another mazy run from Bodiam saw her leave four defenders trailing in her wake and beat the keeper with a perfect finish.

Team

Kim Jappy, Beth Macdonald, Marnie McCarthur, Megan McCarthy, Sarah Main, Megan Gillies (Becky Dingwall 45 mins, Hannah Markley 68mins), Lisa Mckenzie, Kirsty Deans, Lorraine Cadden, Natalie Bodiam, Hannah Gordon.

Falkirk then forced Kim Jappy to produce a couple of fine saves before the points were made secure on 70 mins. Kirsty Deans was upended in the box and Cadden stepped up to slam the resultant penalty into the net to complete her hat trick.
